When we were first getting our vineyard chops we rehabilitated and managed a 5 acre vineyard in Pellston, MI. Get to know the cold-hardy grape varieties we grew there and how they fit into the story of Folkor.

As winery construction ramps up, we wanted to share a little bit about the inspiration that has gone into our design process. We realized that what we care about most is experience.

Cover crops in the vineyard help to slow erosion, contribute nutrients, enhance water availability, smother weeds, help control pests and diseases, increase biodiversity and do a lot of other helpful things!

Pruning is one of the most important things we do in the vineyard. Every year we remove 80 - 90% of the previous year's growth to make room for the coming vintage!

Site selection plays a huge role in the success of a vineyard. There are a lot of things to consider when picking a vineyard site, but we’re most concerned with the BIG THREE when it comes to the science and art of grape growing.
